SHAIEx: Adaptive computer assisted English learning at early ages

Resumen:
One of the conclusions drawn from the first European conference on using ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies) in Preschool Education (Brussels 2002) was that technologies can encourage children’s development and increase the learning capabilities at this age. In the light of the claims above, our research team is developing SHAIEx, a web-based educational adaptative hypermedia system for learning English at early ages (3 to 5 years old). This paper aims to describe some of the adaptation features, the structure of its pedagogical domain and how the system works.
